Culturally Affirming | Identity-Responsive | Whole-Person Centered Care

My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in cultural humility, inclusivity, and the belief that every individual possesses inherent dignity, resilience, and the capacity for growth. I honor and celebrate the diverse identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences of each person I work with—recognizing that healing must be approached through both a personal and cultural lens.

I am committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences authentically. My work is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and connection, with a deep respect for the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit.

I take a decolonized and depathologized approach to therapy. I don’t position myself as an expert over your life—instead, I walk alongside you as a guide and collaborator, helping you reconnect with your inner wisdom and personal agency.

My practice is actively:

  • Culturally Affirming
  • LGBTQIA2S+ Affirming
  • Gender Affirming
  • Anti-Racist Practicing

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

What is Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms.

Experiencing EMDR Therapy

After the therapist and client agree that EMDR therapy is a good fit, the client will work through the eight phases of EMDR therapy with their therapist.

Attention will be given to a negative image, belief, emotion, and body sensation related to this event, and then to a positive belief that would indicate the issue was resolved.

A typical EMDR therapy session lasts from 60-90 minutes and sessions can occur 1-3x/week on average.

How is EMDR therapy different from other therapies?

EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or
completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process.

EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For
many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other
psychotherapies.

Who can benefit from EMDR therapy?

EMDR therapy helps children and adults of all ages. Therapists use EMDR therapy to address a wide range of challenges and challenges I address are below:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Panic/Anxiety Attacks
  • Trauma / PTSD / C-PTSD
  • Stress Related Issues
  • Performance Anxiety
  • Family Issues
  • Poor Self Image
  • Relationship Issues
  • Interpersonal / Social issues
  • Grief
  • Job Related Stress

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a unique approach to psychotherapy. ART is unique because the ART Therapist guides the client to replace the negative images in the mind that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress with positive images of the client’s choosing.

Experiencing EMDR Therapy

ART is unique in that it combines the enormous power of eye movements to allow voluntary changes in the client’s mind with well-established therapies like Gestalt, Psychodynamic Therapy and Guided Imagery. Within the ART protocol, the eye movements, along with other ART enhancements, make these therapies work much faster and more effectively.

A typical ART therapy session lasts for 90 minutes and is said to provide relief in 1-5 sessions.

How is ART therapy different from other therapies?

ART therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or
completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on replacing the negative images in the mind that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress.

Although some traumatic experiences can be very painful to visualize, early in the ART session the client has already rapidly moved beyond the place where they are stuck in these past experiences and is making positive changes of their choice. ART sessions are calming for the client and very often joyful, especially at the end, for both the client and the therapist. For
many clients, ART therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other
psychotherapies.

Who can benefit from ART therapy?

ART therapy helps children and adults of all ages. Therapists use EMDR therapy to address a wide range of challenges and challenges I address are below:
